Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register?  Students register online by opening an account and choosing whether to take DIP in a classroom setting or to complete the program on line if you are 18 years of age or older.

Can I take the course online?   Many individuals are more comfortable attending the classroom session where the information is reviewed, questions can be asked and examples are given.  If you would like to attend a classrooom session, please see the locations, dates and times.  If you are over the age of 18, you may take the program online.  You do not pay until you come to take the final test.  Once you have completed the program, you must bring the certificate in hand, photo identification and your MVA letter, if applicable, to one of our sites with the required fee and take a final test.

What happens if I do not pass the test?  The instructor will review the questions that you missed.  If you do not obtain a score of 80% or above, you will be required to return following a 24-hour waiting period and retake the test.  There is a Ten ($10.00) Dollar charge for any individual who needs to retake the exam.

What happens if I lost my MVA letter?  In the event you have lost your MVA letter, it is your responsibility to obtain another letter either by going to the MVA to request a copy or by calling 410-787-7817 to have one mailed to you.  Please note that you are not permitted to complete the program without your MVA letter if you have received one.

What if I miss my Due Date:  If you miss your due date, most likely your license is suspended.  Under no circumstances should you be driving.  Please contact the MVA to relinquish your license and to inquire as to what is necessary for you to be reinstated to maintain your ability to drive.

Will the points be removed from my driving record by taking the course?  By taking the Driver Improvement Program, your points will not be removed.  Points will remain on your record for 2 years from the date of your violation.

What am I required to bring to the testing site?  When presenting to the final exam or coming to a class, please bring your government issued identification, the letter from the MVA or the courts, certificate (if you have taken the program on line) and your payment.

What is the cost of the program and are there any refunds?  The cost of the online program is Fifty ($50.00) Dollars.  The cost of the program in the classroom setting is Sixty($60.00) Dollars.  This is a cash-only course.  Payment is due at the time you present for class or when you present for the online testing.  Once you complete the final test and are given your Completion Certificate, you are not eligible for a refund.  In the event you become sick during the class, a refund will be offered upon written request or you will be given the option to complete the class at another time.

How does the MVA know that I completed the program?  Within 24 hours of when you complete the final test, Greg's Driving School will electronically transmit your information to the MVA where it will be posted directly to your driving record.  Please note that your driving record is not updated until the information is posted.  If you are currently suspended, we encourage you to call the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration Driver Improvement Division (410-787-7817) to assure that your suspension has been lifted and you are permitted to drive.

If the weather is bad, how do I know if you are still having class?  In the event the school is closed due to inclement weather, you will be called and advised of alternate dates and times to take the class or to take the final online test.  All cancellations are also posted on our website.

What if I am taking the program for a ticket received out of state?  If you received a ticket in a state other than Maryland, it is your responsibility to forward the completion form to that state to meet whatever requirements are ordered by the court.
